Children Rescued And Restored

We are so excited to introduce you to the lovely Ian and beautiful Sarah, this month they have both joined the Koinonia family!

A Story Of Hope

Ian had never experienced love or affection, he ran away from home when he was very young to escape his abusive, drunk father. He then spent the following years living on the streets fighting to survive. Ian was tortured by the older street boys leaving him with a disfigured hand, but we are fighting to save his mobility and have been providing him with the specialist medical treatment and care he needs. Life was difficult but there was a hope for Ian. One day he was looking for food outside a local supermarket when he met Penny and Derek, this was the beginning of the rest of his life! Penny and Derek had their hearts broken for Ian, they knew something had to be done to bring change and restoration to his broken life. Over the months that followed KCP worked with a local trusted Kenyan to bring Ian into a halfway house. Introducing Ian into a family environment has been a delicate process but he is now home.  Already Ian is unrecognisable! He is fun, chatty and and caring. Ian is learning how to form safe relationships and adjust to having routines and boundaries and we are so proud of him. He loves to play football with the boys and has started school, a miracle he never thought possible! We couldn’t be happier.

A story of restoration

Four years ago, Sarah Odinga was sold by her father for £6. Sarah’s three brother’s Benson, Bernard and Edwin have lived in Koinonia since 2007 and for the past 4 years it has been our longing to have their sister join us too. We had been trying to track the whereabouts of Sarah and during our last trip a miracle happened and Sarah was found. Sarah has had a traumatic past but we are going to see her loved back to life, free from shame and fear. We cannot wait to show her that she is valued cherished and adored. Sarah has settled into the family in no time at all, she is bonding with the other girls so quickly and has a grin she just can’t wipe off!  Seeing her smile around the compound is such a lovely sight.
